What did you know about Heat wave?

  • Heat wave is a prolonged period of excessively hot weather, which may be accompanied by high humidity.

  • The definition recommended by the World Meteorological Organization is when the daily maximum temperature of more than five consecutive days exceeds the average maximum temperature by 5.

Teach you to handle heat wave condition easily!

Yay things

  • Stay indoors if possible.

  • Wear hat or umbrella when going outdoors. Always wear appropriate foot wear to protect your feet.

  • Wear sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher for UV protection.

  • Wear lightweight or loose-fitting clothing.

  • Drink 2-3 litres of water per day. Herb like chrysanthemum tea is recommended for cooling effect.

  • Sleep on feather or down pillow with a cotton pillowcase to prevent heat retaining.

  • Replace usual body moisturizer with a cooling aloe vera after sun product.

  • Run cold water over your wrist for five seconds each, every now and then to cool the blood in your main vein.

Nay Things

  • Avoid strenuous physical activities. Limit outdoor activity during mid-day hours.

  • Avoid bulky suits or clothes.

  • Avoid hot foods or heavy meals as the foods increase metabolic heat.

  • Do not leave your children or pets in a parked car even with the windows down.

  • Never waste water. Recycle bathed water while washing car.

  • Do not leave water uncovered. Stagnant water would encourage mosquitoes to breed.
