Office workers had a 9AM - 5PM commitment as spend most of the day in front of computer. This is the perfect time for body fat cells to accumulate under skin, especially in the belly.

Here are some tips that can helps to avoid gaining weight while working in the office, perhaps lose some weight you’ve already gained.

#1 Take the stairs

Stair climbing is a great exercise to strengthen leg muscles and improve cardiovascular endurance. So, always choose staircase prior to elevator.

#2 Plan your lunch

Plan and pack your lunch at home when you are NOT in the condition of hunger. This will help you in smart planning of your diet. If you are in the 'starvation' stage, you are likely to choose foods high in calorie or overeat and make you less likely to choose healthier option.

#3 Stand instead of sit

Studies showed that standing increases energy expenditure and burns extra calories if compared to sitting. Standing also can tones the muscles, improves posture, increases blood flow and ramp up metabolisms. Standing for 45 minutes after lunch also helps to prevent high blood glucose level if compared to sitting after lunch.

#4 Keep healthy snacks in office

Snacking is the common habits for all office workers. In order to satisfy the munchies, you can choose nutritious snacks instead of processed one with high calories.

Example of low calories snacks are fruits, wholegrain biscuits, nuts and seeds and others.

#5 Plan workout sessions with colleagues

Having a fitness buddy is more likely to keep you motivated and workout consistently. Always ask your colleague if they wanted to go for a run after work or a power walk after lunch break. You can also fit in a weekend workout or outdoor activities during weekend. This can help to improve team bonding and release stress at the same time.
