Zika virus is a mosquito-borne single-stranded RNA virus related to dengue virus. In the Americas, Zika virus is primarily transmitted by Aedes aegypti, but Aedes albopictus mosquitoes can also transmit the virus. Most people fully recover from Zika virus without severe complications, and severe illness or deaths from Zika virus are extremely rare, says the CDC (Centers of disease control and prevention).

They can also bite at night. Zika virus can be transmitted from a pregnant mother to her fetus during pregnancy or around the time of birth.

Why special warning for pregnant women? How ZIKA VIRUS is affected pregnant woman?
Zika virus appears to be especially dangerous for pregnant women and their babies. When a mom-to-be becomes infected with Zika virus, the virus can also infect the fetus.
Experts believe Zika infection during pregnancy may lead to a rare birth defect called microcephaly. Microcephaly is a neurological condition that causes babies to be born with small heads and severe developmental issues, and in rare instances it can result in death. The highest risk to the fetus is believed to be when the mother is infected during the first trimester. However this claims still does not have a definitive prove yet, further case studies are required.
How to protect yourself from ZIKA VIRUS?

• Remember that mosquitoes that spread Zika virus may be more likely to bite during daytime hours.
